Lieutenant Colonel Robert L. Beske

Lieutenant Colonel Beske graduated from the University of Arizona in 2006 and attended PLC 10 weeks combined in 2005. Commissioned a 2ndLt in the IRR in 2006 and attended Western Michigan School of Law, graduating in 2009. LtCol Beske has been a member of the Minnesota Bar since 2009. 

After completing The Basic School and Naval Justice School, then First Lieutenant Beske started in the trial services office at Camp Lejeune in 2010 as a trial counsel prosecuting
special and general courts-martial. In 2012, he deployed with 6th Marine Regiment (RCT-6 Forward) to Afghanistan, as the Regimental Judge Advocate overseeing detainee operations and kinetic engagements for 12 months. Upon redeployment, he resumed trial counsel responsibilities in 2013 until executing PCS orders to 3d Marine Division in Okinawa, Japan. At 3d MarDiv, then Captain Beske was the Deputy Staff Judge Advocate from 2013 to 2016. Captain Beske provided command advice to over 14 special and general convening authorities for courts-martial and various other command legal matters. 

Selected on CPIB to attend the 65th Graduate Course at The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School (TJAGLCS) in order to concentrate in criminal law and obtain the additional military occupational skill of 4409. Following successful completion of the Grad Course in 2017, then Major Beske went to the trial services office at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, in Beaufort, South Carolina and served as the Senior Trial Counsel from June 2017 until April 2019. As STC, he was responsible for the Recruit Depot, 6th Marine Recruiting District, Kings Bay, GA, Albany, GA, and Pensacola, FL, cases. 

In May 2019, he switched to the Defense Services Organization as the Senior Defense Counsel, MCRD Parris Island, until July 2020 covering the same area of responsibility.

In July 2020, LtCol Beske returned to TJAGLCS to join the faculty as an associate professor in the criminal law department. His portfolio at TJAGLCS included rights of the accused, privilege against self incrimination, search and seizure, and digital evidence. The students at TJAGLCS ranged from brand new Army judge advocates to senior commanders, general officers and military judges seeking their certification to take the bench. He earned the 0952 ADMOS, Formal School Officer Instructor while teaching at TJAGLCS.

In July 2023, LtCol Beske returned to Okinawa, Japan to join the Office of Special Trial Counsel as the Regional Trial Counsel for the OSTC Pacific Region.

His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, National Defense Service 11 Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, NATO Medal-ISAF Afghanistan and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (3).
