Lieutenant Colonel Christian P. Hur

LtCol Christian P. Hur serves as the Regional Special Trial Counsel for the Western Region. LtCol Hur enlisted in the Marine Corps Reserves in 1998 as a Field Radio Operator and commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in 2002 after completing undergraduate studies in Finance at Montana State University in 2001.

LtCol Hur graduated from the University of Montana, School of Law in 2005. During 2006, LtCol Hur attended The Basic School in Quantico, Virginia and the Naval Justice School in Newport, Rhode Island.

From 2006 to 2009, he served as a prosecutor for the Legal Services Support Section (LSSS) at Camp Pendleton, California for both Legal Team C and E. LtCol Hur deployed to Haditha, Iraq during February and March 2008 in support of prosecution work. LtCol Hur completed the Expeditionary Warfare School, Non-Resident course in 2008. From May 2008 to November 2008, LtCol Hur deployed to Iraq again as an individual augment with Marine Corps Forces Central Command and attached to the U.S. Army 18th Airborne Corps, which served as the Headquarters element for Multinational Corps-Iraq.

From June 2009 to May 2011, LtCol Hur received orders to the Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego Law Center where he worked as the OIC of the Administrative Law Section, trial counsel, and then later as the Senior Defense Counsel. LtCol Hur completed the Command and Staff College, Non-Resident course in 2011.

From May 2011 to June 2012, he served as Battalion Executive Officer for Third Recruit Training Battalion, and then as the Civil and administrative Law and Review Officer at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego where he wrote ethics opinions for the Commanding General and Commanders.

From July 2012 to July 2015, LtCol Hur transferred to Okinawa, Japan, serving as Deputy and later as acting Staff Judge Advocate for Marine Corps Installations Pacific-Marine Corps Base, Camp Butler.

In 2015, LtCol Hur attended the University of San Diego, School of Law and received his Master of Law Degree in Environmental and Energy Law in May 2016. He graduated from the U.S. Navy War College in the Fleet Seminar Program with a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies in 2017.

From June 2016 until June 2019, LtCol Hur served as the Environmental Counsel for the Western Area Counsel Office.

From June 2019 to June 2022, LtCol Hur served as the Regional Trial Counsel, National Capital Region while assigned to MCB Quantico, VA where he was responsible for prosecuting all of the U.S. Marine Corps’ criminal cases in the National Capital Region, Marine Forces Reserve, and Europe and Africa.

In July 2022, LtCol Hur assumed duties as the Regional Special Trial Counsel for the Western Region.

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (Third Award), Joint Commendation Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal (Second Award).
