Justin D. Brown was born in Florence, South Carolina and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in November 2011. He attended Recruit Training on the buddy program with his twin brother aboard Recruit Depot Parris Island, South Carolina and graduated in February 2012 from Lima Company Platoon 3008. The following month Private First Class Brown graduated from Marine Combat Training aboard Camp Geiger then transferred to his military occupational specialty (MOS) school at the Legal Services Support Specialist school aboard Naval Station Newport Rhode Island where he graduated the same year. Upon graduation, he was given orders to III Marine Expeditionary Force, Staff Judge Advocate as a legal clerk. After arriving, PFC Brown was promoted to Lance Corporal. LCpl Brown first experience working outside of his mos was in 2014 when he was selected to deploy to Korea in support of MEFEX. Following his return from Korea LCpl Brown was promoted to Corporal in May 2014.
Cpl Brown received and executed orders to the Legal Services Support Section (LSSS-E) Marine Corps Installations- East, Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in September 2014. Initially working in the Post-Trial Review Shop as the NCOIC he would start his next journey learning more about the foundations of what it meant to be a paralegal in the Marine Corps. September 2015 Cpl Brown would be promoted to Sergeant. Now Sgt Brown, he would take on multiple duties from funeral details to the Color Sergeant for both the Installation and the Battalion performing in numerous ceremonies for both the community and the Corps. While assigned to the LSSS he would be transferred take over duties as the NCOIC for the Trial Services office.
Mid-way through his time in the Trial office he would be selected in January 2017 to serve as an instructor for the battalion’s Cpl course and LCpl seminar until October 2017. After his time was completed as an instructor Sgt Brown would return as the NCOIC of the Trial Services office until execution of his orders to Recruiters School, San Diego CA in April 2018.
After graduating Recruiting School Sgt Brown would return to the East Coast with the billet MOS 8411(Basic Recruiter) where he would serve the community of Greenville, SC while assigned to Recruiting Station Columbia and Recruiting Station Charlotte. During this tour Sgt Brown would be promoted to Staff Sergeant in December 2018. While on the streets of America SSgt Brown directly contributed to replenishing the force and ensuring mission was made by finding those both qualified and capable of enlisting and passing recruit training. Upon completion of this 36 month tour SSgt Brown would receive orders to the National Capital Region to work at the Military Commission’s Defense Organization, a joint assignment, as a defense paralegal. During these three years SSgt Brown would be promoted to Gunnery Sergeant as he supported a multifaceted team of attorneys, investigators, linguist, analyst in defending the rule of law while aboard Naval Station, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
Completing his tour successfully GySgt Brown would receive orders returning to Camp Lejeune to support the prosecution mission working as the Regional Chief for the Trial Services Organization – East from October 2024 to May 2026. During this tour GySgt Brown would be frocked to the rank of Master Sergeant(MSgt) before executing orders in May 2026 to report to HQMC as the Prosecution Services Chief of the Marine Corps.
